Six-year-old cannabis case is set for trial

A Polish national is due to stand trial at the High Court in Glasgow in connection with £1.8m worth of cannabis found growing in a disused Selkirk pub six years ago.

Police Scotland say 2,000 plants were recovered from the Queen’s Head public house in Selkirk’s West Port in October 2014.

A preliminary hearing took place at the High Court in Glasgow last week involving 34-year-old Jakub Gorski, who gave an address in Murrayburn Grove in Edinburgh.

He faces charges of producing a controlled drug while acting with others at the Queen’s Head, a property in West Port and The Valley in Selkirk and also a flat in Beech Avenue, Galashiels, between March 8, and October 28, 2014.

Gorski has also denied being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and a breach of the Electricity Act while acting with others The 34-year-old, who gave an address in Edinburgh, is also charged with a breach of bail by failing to appear at the High Court in Glasgow.

At the High Court in Glasgow a preliminary hearing was continued until October 28.

There is currently no trial diet assigned for the case.
