Nostalgia: Borderers run to the rescue
Big-hearted Borderers took part in a number of sporting events in May 1986, to raise money for Sport Aid.
As well as the run pictured above, some 70 people enjoyed an energetic afternoon when they took part in a sponsored 45-minute workout in Galashiels Public Park.
Two screens projected a film of workout leader Arlene Philips, then choreographer of Hot Gossip, now more famous as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing. The Southern was reliably informed that no sequins were harmed.
