The words of Scottish Borders Council leader David Parker after he cut the first sod at the site of an 800-pupil replacement high school in Earltson back in 2007.
The £70m deal was to provide new secondary schools at Earlston, Duns and Eyemouth.

Hide AdThe symbolic sod-cutting signalled the construction work on the Gorgefields Farm site and all schools were expected to be completed by 2009.
