I feel sorry for Councillor Carolyn Riddell-Carre.

She claims she doesn't have the time to do the jobs she was elected to do.

Is there someone in Scottish Borders Council holding a gun to her head and forcing her to stay on as a councillor?

With regard to Mrs Riddell-Carre not being happy about the minutes of Newtown Community Council, how long has she been a councillor? She must surely know that they can't possibly print everything everyone says – they would be there all night just ratifying the minutes.

Is Mrs Riddell-Carre claiming that SBC prints everything said at executive meetings she attends?

She claims she is overworked and can't find the time to go to meetings or visit her constituents in Selkirk. I have spoken to several people from Selkirk and they tell me that they haven't even clapped eyes on her since she was elected more than a year ago.

Can I suggest that if life is so stressful and she hasn't got the time, why doesn't she just retire – then the people of Selkirk and Newtown can get someone who wants to do the job?
