SIX artists from Wasps studios in Selkirk are holding an exhibition showcasing an eclectic mix of work from Colin Philip, Mary Morrison, Fiona Millar, Moy Mackay, Rob Hain and John Berry, writes Bob Burgess.
Although the studios hold an annual Working Artists Studio Provision Scotland (Wasps) Open Weekend in October, it is the first time these six artists have held an exhibition of this kind in their own gallery space.
"We have a great gallery facility on site that is not being used to its full potential," said artist and framer Fiona Millar, best known for her Belted Galloway paintings.
She added: "Holding an exhibition in our own gallery gives visitors the rare chance of meeting the artists directly, an aspect of the selling process that artists tend to not be part of often when selling through galleries, as most do."
Artist Moy Mackay commented: "It's a great opportunity to get feedback from the public regarding our work. Their comments can be invaluable concerning many aspects of the production and selling of artwork, and it is always good to get a fresh perspective on your work."
There will be a variety of styles of original artwork and limited-edition prints for sale, from affordable to larger pieces for those looking for that safer investment opportunity!
The exhibition runs from today, 5-8pm; tomorrow, 10am-5pm; and Sunday, 11am-5pm. In conjunction with the Scott's Selkirk weekend, the exhibition will also run on December 6 and 7, 11am-4pm both days.
Wasps Studios can be found at St Mary's Mill, Level Crossing Road, Selkirk.
